A fantastic holiday cottage with private woodland on Texel De Cocksdorp
Holiday cottage ‘Het Kwade Konijn’ is situated in De Cocksdorp, the most northern of Texel’s villages. There is a spacious generously proportioned and fully renovated cottage behind the original facade of the building, which dates from 1905. Only 250 m from the Wadden Sea dyke with its views across Texel and the Wadden Sea to the island of Vlieland, the premises back onto 700 m2 of private woodland and a pond. On clear nights you can see four lighthouses, including the one on Terschelling and another at Huisduinen on the mainland.
The garden and woods behind the cottage offer both sun and shade and at dusk a cosy brazier warms the cool evening air. The bakery, supermarket, bike rental shop and several restaurants are all within walking distance.

Net zero energy
Our holiday cottage on Texel is a net zero energy building; the underfloor heating distributes the heat evenly and there is a constant flow of fresh (Texel) air.
The beds are made up for your arrival.
The cottage is owned by an ornithologist and wildlife photographer. You are welcome to go on an excursion with him and learn all about the island’s birds.
The surrounding area
If you’re looking forward to exploring the surroundings on foot, you’re in the right place. Paths lead from De Cocksdorp and head in all directions: you can reach the lighthouse, the dunes and the wildlife areas of Roggesloot and Dorpzicht, home to rare orchids and meadow birds. A circular 5-6 km walk will take you past Labora Farm where you can sample artisan ice-cream.
The whole island is covered in fantastic cycle routes. De Cocksdorp is an excellent base for plenty of great activities. The VVV website has lots of tourist information on walking, cycling, sports, leisure, shopping, dining and attending events, shows and concerts.
